Culture Doesn’t ~
How could I expect somebody to love me
How could I expect somebody to care
Nobody has ever honestly loved me
Nobody was ever truly there
And while they all score points with god
And while they all earn a god-rep
None of them give from their hearts
When does one start to hear
And no longer just pretend to listen
When does one no longer fear
Trusting one who’s stigma glistens
When does one no longer rumor
About those with whom they pretend to connect
Nobody will ever love
Someone who doesn’t fit conform’s glove
This culture doesn’t know love
Even if one did everything right
This culture only loves
Those who obey the soulless norm's blight
This culture only loves
Those who obey unloving forms
I don’t care if this poems isn’t great
I don’t care if this isn’t fine
All I know is this culture
Doesn’t love this honest heart of mine

By this girl...grown up. |
Growing up, I was in trouble every year for not smiling in my school photo's (mom didn't care, but her parents would be so angry [still remember grampaw's girlfriend's evil eyebrows]), but I didn't give in; childhood was horrid, and I felt they didn't deserve for me to be dishonest for them (preferred to be true to myself).
This is wonderful! You rock Rhea!
